The Angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Mary. ...though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. (Miach 5,1) Jesus was born in Bethlehem (“Bayt Lahem”). In Hebrew this means “House of Bread” In Arabic the name means “House of flesh” (“lahem = flesh”). Jesus will later say of himself: “I am the Bread of Life which has come down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread, will live forever and that bread that I shall give is my flesh for the life of the world” (Jn 6, 51). 15
