Self-portrait photographer Lauren Turton created and developed a character simply called “The Hare.” Intriguingly enough, she chose the art of self-portrait photography to specialize in due to the challenge of being behind and in front of the camera. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, she used to spend weekends frolicking in the mountains of West Virginia. Thus, she has always had a craving for the wanderlust lifestyle. By her early twenties, she moved to the West Coast then eventually made her way back to Ohio where she attended Sinclair Community College to obtain a certificate in photography. In 2012 she returned to the West Coast once more, and currently resides in downtown San Diego. When in The Gaslamp Quarters, make sure to stop by the Avenue 5 Studio, the photography studio she operates, and say hello! Who knows? Maybe “The Hare” will make. 16 TAE MAGAZINE
