THE SOPHOMorE 64 | MENTORING-EVENT AT THE HERTIE SCHOOL OF GOVERNANCE On Thursday, the 24th of September a Mento- ring-event was held at the Hertie School of Go- vernance in Berlin. 15 professionals and execu- tives from various lines of work were present to initially offer the students of Hertie School the opportunity to get a glimpse into their businesses, mentoring programs and success stories in a laid- back, no-pressure atmosphere. In a speed-dating like procedure, the students got the chance to pick one or several of the potential mentors that had previously introduced themselves and their profession, and have a nice chat, sharing first ex- periences, ideas and hopes for the possible work together. Despite it being the first of such Events at Hertie School, the attendance was numerous and the feedback terrific - the students were ob- viously delighted by the concept and execution of the program and the opportunity to exchange views about career and educational topics with experienced professionals and to get the inside scoop on possible work environments and hear about the life and business experiences of the mentors. The extraordinary and thorough encounters left quite an impression - at the ensuing buffet, there were still many excited conversations being held and future plans made… The Mentors also had a lot to take away from these encounters - as it was so nicely stated at the beginning of the evening: Everyone can profit from the others experiences - After all, it’s not only Mentees learning from Mentors, but the other way around, too. MENTORENTAG HAMBURG, 22. SEP- TEMBER 2015 EU- ROPASCHULE GYM- NASIUM HAMM. Zweiundsechzig Nationen sind hier präsent. Alle Sprachen. Eine Lehrer- schaft hoch engagiert. Unglaublich. Vorbildlich. Das Gymnasium Europaschule Hamm ist etwas besonderes. Alle Schüler der 10ten und 12ten Klasse hatten die Chance, für sich neue Perspektiven wahrzunehmen. Gerade auch bildungsferne und be- nachteiligte Milieus profitieren vom Konzept „Erleben nach Vorbildern“. Mit Dipl.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Jürgen Weber. Vorsitzender des Aufsichts- rats, Deutsche Lufthansa AG hatten wir diesmal einen ganz prominen- ten Mentor dabei. Die anderen nicht weniger prominenten Mentoren, Geschäftsführer, Vorstände, Füh- rungskräfte aus den verschiedens- ten Bereichen: Bank, Consulting, Forschung und Entwicklung, Film, Gesundheit, IT, Internet, Luftfahrt, M&A Merger & Aquisition, On- line-Medien, Politik, TV und Trans- port. Außerdem trafen 2 Wissen- schaftlerinnen des DESY interessierte junge Schülerinnen. Ziel dieser Veranstaltungsserie ist es, jungen Menschen bei der beruflichen Orientierung und dem Berufseinstieg zu unterstützen. Olaf Scholz, Erster Bürgermeister der Freien und Hansestadt Ham- burg hat die Schirmherrschaft über unsere Veranstaltungsserie in Ham- burg übernommen. Unsere Gesellschaft lebt davon, dass eine Generation das Wissen, die Er- fahrungen, an die nächste weitergibt. Das ist unsere Stärke. Intern
